So it's finally coming to a close. I've been saying my final goodbyes to all the incredible people I've met here and have successfully completed all my projects. Even in my last week, I’ve managed to fit in time for some more events. I've got to say the 6 weeks have flown by. There's been so much happening and I've had the opportunity to get involved in a lot of exciting stuff. The Summer Diversity Internship Programme (SDIP) team puts in a lot of effort in making sure interns get the best experience out of their time and I’ve been fortunate to have participated in a range of activities and events where I’ve met some amazing people. From holding leadership sessions for secondary school students to visiting Downing Street, I’ve been able to develop a range of skills that are essential in any role.
To sum it all up, the SDIP has given me a great insight into the workings of the Civil Service. It’s truly been an eye opening experience which you don’t get at other organizations. I've been involved in large-scale projects which will have an impact throughout the UK. One of the best aspects of the internship is the variety of work. You get assigned to a range of projects which help you develop a range of competencies that are essential as you grow and become a future leader. I've also been able to regularly meet senior civil servants and get a first-hand insight of being at the heart of public service and as I progress through my career, I will always look back at my time at the Civil Service and how significant it was in my personal development.
