As Interim Chief Executive of the Major Projects Authority (MPA), I am delighted to announce the launch of the Project Delivery Fast Stream Graduate Scheme, as part of our work to build Project Delivery capability within the Civil Service.
The Civil Service handles a huge variety of different projects. These range from infrastructure projects, such as delivering new roads, railways, schools and hospitals, through military equipment to digital transformation programmes that will permanently change the way people connect with government. The benefits these projects will bring to the country are enormous and the overall investment represents a real commitment to change.
Delivering these large and often complex projects require a lot of expertise, and the government is very committed to building project leadership skills within the Civil Service. Our successful Project Delivery candidates will get the opportunity to work on a wide range of project types in various departments over the 4 year duration of their programme, undertaking a number of challenging roles to ensure they gain all of the necessary skills to become our project leaders of the future.
This may include the following types of roles: Project Manager, Project Planner, Risk Manager, Business Case Production, Communications, Project Board Support or Programme Management Office Lead/Support.
In addition to project delivery roles, successful candidates will also spend time in the wider civil service to gain a breadth of knowledge to ensure they can accelerate their careers.
Candidates will be able to apply for the Project Delivery Fast Stream from 1st September 2015 until 2nd November 2015, and if successful will join us in September 2016. Project Delivery offers a long term career with great opportunities to deliver real change in the U.K. If you would like to be part of this change we would welcome your application.
